Dean Smith believes that it is good for Aston Villa that Jack didn’t start the game on Wednesday against Denmark for his national team as he will be fresh and fit for Aston Villa’s Sunday clash with Foxes.
Grealish proved himself against Wales and received the man of the match award after the game but it all went wrong for him when he didn’t start against Belgium and Denmark.
It was very shocking for many pundits and fans that Southgate didn’t start him in the rest of the games. Southgate was criticized by many especially after the 1-0 defeat to Denmark.
Dean Smith speaking in a pre-match press conference before the Leicester game said, “I was really pleased that he got his first start and produced a man-of-the-match performance.”
“He’ll be disappointed that he didn’t play more minutes, but the beneficiaries are Aston Villa because he’s fresh.”
He wasn’t happy with the timing of this International Break and said:
“There was always a worry that you could be complacent straight after [the win over Liverpool], but some players have gone away and the others have stayed here and worked hard.”
