Since the beginning of winter break there are rumors that Manchester United want to sign Grealish due to his great match saving performances for Aston Villa and now Spurs have joined the race too. As for now Grealish haven’t said a word or gave any hint about leaving but Villa should monitor these players in case he decides to leave.
We analyzed players from all around the Europe according to the position, market value, age factor and performances this season to those of Grealish and narrowed down to three players that can replace him.
1 – Christopher Nkunku
He is a 22 year old Attacking Midfielder currently plays for RP Leipzig in Bundesliga. He joined the club this season leaving PSG where he didn’t get enough minutes to showcase his talent.
He has played 25 league games this season for Leipzig contributing in 18 goals with scoring 4 of them and assisted 14. He also has Champions League experience and played 7 games with one assist in it. In total he appeared in 35 games including Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB-Pokal Cup with contribution in 19 goals.
With current market value around 28m euros he can be a good contender for Grealish’s replacement.
2- Dani Olmo
Another 22 year old who plays for RP Leipzig should be on Villa’s radar. He is from Barcelona’s Youth Academy and joined Leipzig in this season’s winter transfer window from Dinamo Zagreb.
He appeared in 28 games for two different clubs this season with scoring 9 goals and assisted in 8. He has a goal contribution of total 17 goals this season. He played in 6 different competitions in 19/20 season so far and also has an experience of playing in Champions League.
He has a market value of around 32m euros at the moment which Aston Villa can easily meet if Grealish leaves.
3- David Brooks
We have another 22 year on our list who was a part of Manchester City’s youth academy. He joined Sheffield United Under 18 team from City’s under 18 team in 2014. He then promoted to Sheffield senior team and then went to Halifax Town and then again came back to Sheffield. At last he joined Bournemouth in 2018 for a fee of 11.3m euros.
He appeared in 33 games and played 2415 minutes with scoring 7 goals and assisted in 5. He played in Premier League, FA Cup and EFL Cup. He has all the experience Aston Villa needs at this moment.
Currently he is in recovery process of Ankle Injury he suffered in 2019 which reduced his market value to 24m euros. Villa can take this advantage and sign him.
